Halloween Ribbon Wreath (with quick tutorial)

I love Halloween.  It's my favorite holiday and I am always looking for new ways to decorate my home.  I'm not a fan of scary Halloween stuff especially since I have little kids-so we try to stay with just the cute stuff.  I've been seeing these ribbon wreaths all over the blog land/pinterest (here and here are just a few)and decided to make my own for the holiday.  There are lots of different tutorials on how to make them, but here is the way I made mine.  I thought it was quick and easy and I made it while watching a movie and then while watching conference today.

I started out with a foam tube from Home Depot.  Found the idea here and thought it was great.  Plus it was super super cheap.  I just taped it to make a circle.

I wasn't worried with how it would look-or what tape I used.

Here's the ribbon that I chose for my wreath.  I made sure I got at least two different widths.  Then I wanted a few different combos and made sure they all matched.  I ended up using around 18 yards of ribbon give or take.  I always look for it on sale or buy it from the dollar bins at Michaels or Jo Ann's.

Didn't want my tube to show through so I covered it with a big black satin ribbon.  You could use any ribbon you want-the bigger the better because it covers more.  I just used straight pins from Wal Mart to pin it on along with the ribbon pieces.

Covered the whole wreath and added pins every so often to keep it in place.

I then cut my ribbon to be 4 inches long and put in piles.  I did one ribbon design at a time.  I made a loop and put the pin inside and then pushed into my wreath.  It took awhile to fill up the wreath but it was easy and quick.  I just kept looking for spots that needed more or less and pinned away.  I've seen them done where people sew the ribbon together or hot glue it on but this seemed to be the fastest/easiest for me.

This is what the back looks like.   You can see the ribbon hid the ugly gray tube and see parts of the ribbon loops.

A close up of the back.

Close up of the front.  You can see some of the pins-I hid most of them with the ribbon.  Just moved them around a bit.  I wanted to show you how I had pinned them on.

Ta Da!!!  And it's done.  Such a fun colorful wreath for Halloween.  Now I want to make one for Christmas and a Birthday one too!  :)
