Totally Bummed

We went into the doctor's today to have another ultrasound. Guess what. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I was totally bummed.

The ultrasound tech was rude and I did not like her at all. My appointment was at 9:30 and they didn't even call my name until 9:45 and I was OUT of there before 10! She didn't spend anytime looking. She told me that the baby was breach and that was a problem and that we hope the babe flips before birth. I was like, um...I'm only 21 weeks along. Babies flip all the time. You can still SEE BODY PARTS with a breached baby.

Then she told me that I was just going to have to wait till I gave birth to see what we were having and the visit was over. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?

I HATE SURPRISES. I love to plan them, but I do not like to be surprised. I like to plan and be prepared. It is not fun for me to not know. (I know I'm probably killing Shalee and Lauren-two of my good good friends who waited till birth to find out what they were having.)

When I got to the car, I burst into tears and felt so disappointed. I'm not happy. I do not want to wait to find out what we're having. I'm having a CHRISTMAS baby. That's BAD enough!

UGH.

So, I'm heading to Utah for a fam-dam reunion soon and I'm going to go to one of their malls and do that 3-D ultrasound thing that they have. I looked them up on the Internet and hopefully they'll take more time and figure out what this child will be.

Any other suggestions? It was a sad tough day. Especially since I dreamed about it last night and was so excited to find out.

And one more thing-I drank a Coke for breakfast hoping that would help. Caffeine and my body aren't good together at 8 in the morning. Just thought I'd add that in.

No Bib = Not So Smart Mother

Love it! Tonight I was busy cleaning up and gave Dallas a cupcake pop (head on over to my sis-in-law's blog for cute photos) to keep him happy. I didn't even think about putting a bib on him. Can I blame the pregnancy!?!? Look at how messy this kid was! But, he was super happy and he ate the whole thing.

We did end up in the bath tub afterwards. Silly mom.
**** Notice the shiner on his forehead? He was out getting the mail with Toby and biffed it on the concrete. What a tough little trooper. He not only killed his forehead, but scraped up both his knees. It looks like we beat this boy!

Brushing our teeth

Dallas LOVES to brush his teeth. I think we do this 5 times a day. I let him brush and then help him. He says ooooooo and ahhhhh every time I tell him we're going to brush his teeth. He's trying to mimic the sounds that I do to get him to open his mouth so I can get to his teeth. I took these tonight and thought they were pretty funny.

It is SO DANG HARD to get him to smile and capture it on film--he changes expression so much!

Trying to brush Toby's teeth. Look at Dallas' face. He thought this was so funny.

This is the photo that I normally get......he tries to get to the camera before I can snap the picture. Lovely. Had to document it though. 95% of the time, this is the shot I get. Thank goodness for digital!!!!
Notice the scrap on his cheek? Thanks to letting him run wild while we were at the storage shed, he now has bumps and bruises all over his body.

Cute little man!

Love this kid! He drives me crazy and then melts my heart all at the same time. Toby snapped this cute photo of him tonight when we were playing in our room. He's a doll.

Can't believe he'll be 15 months old on the 27th. The time sure has flown by. He's learning so much and has started to mimic so much of what we do. Love this little man!

Rocking with Daddy

Rocking with Daddy. We read books in this chair every day. I grabbed a snapshot of my favorite boys.

Solving Problems

We live in a tiny apartment....that means we have limited space.

This is a problem because we have enough stuff (or in Toby's words-Junk) to need a house. I think our "stuff" is very needful. :)

We don't want to buy a house or try and rent one month to month because we don't know how long we'll be here in Boise. we're patiently waiting and looking for new jobs and have had TONS of promising interviews but then they never work out.

So, what are we to do when baby number 2 is on his/her way and I'm going crazy?

We get a bigger storage shed! Yup. This is how today went:

Storage shed 5x10--move everything out to the storage shed 10x10. Pile boxes and push the cart with Dallas on it and repeat.....over and over.

We have A LOT of great stuff. Stuff I haven't been able to use for 3 years because it's been locked up. And it will stay that way till we move. Guess I won't be needing Christmas presents. I can just open all of my junk and will be happily surprised!

We are moving a bunch of stuff out of Dallas' room so we can make room for the babe (if we're still here) and that meant moving the computer out! I NOW HAVE A COMPUTER TO USE when Dallas is asleep. Do you know what this means!?!?!? I have some me time back. It's in our room, which isn't my favorite spot, but it will do.

I'm exhausted but very happy. My house is still a mess from all the changes-anyone up for helping a poor tired preggo woman out!?!?!??! :)

ewwwwww

We have a snake living outside our door. Kill me now. I'm AFRAID of snakes.

Can someone please come and kill it for me? No, I don't want it saved or moved. I want it GONE. FOREVER.

The Lil' Stinker is......

And the verdict is in.......

We have to come back in a week and half. The babe would show NOTHING. She/He is a little stinker. We were in there for over an hour trying to find certain body parts. Oh well-guess I should've had a Coke for breakfast! :)

Choking on Bananas

SCARIEST experience of my life:

Saturday night Toby got called in so I was eating dinner alone with Dallas. I usually have some sort of fruit and have gotten pretty relaxed about how big the chunks are. Well I gave him a half of a banana and he was eating it just fine.

I went to grab my phone in my room when I turned and looked at Dallas. He WASN'T BREATHING! He was CHOKING on the banana!!!!!! At first, I was waiting to see if he would just cough it up, like he usually does--but he wasn't even doing anything. He had this scared look on his face that I can't even describe. I FREAKED. Totally freaked out. I grabbed him as fast as I could and put one hand on his back and one under his rib cage and started the Heimlich. I pounded as hard as I could on his back and was ready to whisk him to the neighbors to have them call 911 when suddenly the banana flew out of his mouth and across the room. It was quite the big chunk. Long and fat.

He coughed, caught his breath and cried-I bawled.

I have never in my life felt more helpless and more scared than I did then. I know I did the right thing and acted fast and that he's okay, but all I could think about was the fact that he was choking, I was alone and that he was going to die. It all took place in probably a minute-but it seemed like eternity. I was so scared.

Toby went to high school with a girl who lost her daughter last year to a choking accident. She choked on bite sized apple piece at the age of 18 months at church. So sad. You can read about her story here-Molly and Lucy. Ever since, I have been terrified of losing my babies to some tragic accident. I know they can happen and at any time and I go to great lengths to try and keep him safe. Still.......you never know. I have found a few blogs about parents who have lost their children and I just sit and cry over their stories. How sad would my life be to lose Dallas. I love him so very much and am so grateful that he is okay and that that stupid banana came out.

Now I keep ALL of his food little.

Farmer's Market and Water Fountains

We went to the Farmer's Market downtown today and such a great time! We got some blackberries and raspberries and then a marinade-yum! I haven't been in a long time so it was a lot of fun to walk around and see the different sellers and taste all the yummy food.

After the market, we headed over to the water fountains. Dallas had such a great time. I had put him in his swimsuit because I knew that he would get soaked! He didn't like it when the big kids would sit on the largest fountain and soak everyone else, so he just stayed on the outsides. Toby and I took turns walking around with him and we got pretty wet as well. But, it was soooo hot-we didn't mind it!

Always got to have some sort of car with him!

He really loves water....wonder where he gets that from. :)

He would try and play with anyone his size or close to it. The only thing he didn't like was if someone tried to take his car away.

Here's a short video of Dallas playing in the fountains. We had a great day! When we got home, it was naps for all of us. :)
